Lake Villa Community Solar Initiative
Project Overview
ECA Power is proposing the construction of a 7.42 MWdc / 4.95 MWac community solar energy system on 29 acres of farmland in the northwest part of Lake Villa. The project will generate clean, reliable power for the local community while reserving undeveloped portions of the site for visual screening and open space.
At the end of its 35-year lifespan, the land will be restored and donated back to the Village — providing valuable space for future community use such as parks or recreation.

With 1,100 spots reserved specifically for local residents, this is meant to make sure the benefit stays with the community that's hosting the project, not outside subscribers.

Subscribers receive a credit on their ComEd bill based on their share of the solar output, typically resulting in savings of around 10% compared to standard utility rates.

That revenue can support local infrastructure, schools, or other community priorities — on top of the land itself being restored and donated back to the Village at the end of the project's 35-year life.
